Tracy O. King Files for Re-Election

November, 28 2011

State Representative Tracy O. King (D - Batesville), has filed for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives in House District 80 (HD 80). The District now includes the counties of Atascosa, Bee, Dimmit, Frio, Karnes, La Salle, McMullen, Uvalde and Zavala.  Regarding his bid for re-election Representative King said, “I look forward to travelling throughout the district and renewing old friendships and forging new ones. With your help, we can return to Austin in January 2013 and continue to represent you as your State Representative and work towards a better and safer Texas.”

Representative King was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1994. As a legislator he has held numerous leadership positions; serving on the powerful Ways and Means Committee, Appropriations Committee, the Cultural, Recreation and Tourism Committee, Environmental Regulation Committee, General and Local Calendars Committee, Vice Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee and Chairman of the Border and International Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the Edwards Aquifer Legislative Oversight Committee and the Energy Council.

Representative Tracy King has always made a living in the private sector and is keenly aware of the challenges that can present. He is married to the former Cheryl Baker and they are blessed with two wonderful children. They are active in many school and church activities and participate on various boards and community organizations.

Representative King's re-election bid has drawn the support of a large number of local and community leaders including his colleagues in the Texas House. He expresses his gratitude for the support the re-election announcement has generated.

"Our State is facing significant challenges that require vigorous and experienced leadership. The seniority that I have will play a pivotal role in securing key leadership positions that will greatly benefit all the citizens of District 80.”

Representative King’s agenda for next session is to continue his efforts for more job opportunities, better health care, improved public education, additional benefits for veterans, lower taxes and a better business climate for the citizens of South and Southwest Texas.

"It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your State Representative and a responsibility I take very seriously," said King. "I am sincerely grateful for everyone’s support over the years and look forward to continuing our efforts in the Texas House of Representatives.”
