Michelle Litjens was raised in Burlington, Wisconsin, where her parents Robert and Lonna Wheelock taught her the value of hard work and importance of community. Starting at age 13 painting houses, she worked various jobs while attending St. Mary’s Catholic Central High School. After graduation, Michelle had the opportunity to volunteer with the Milwaukee Archdiocese as a missionary in St. Lucia, and it was there that she began to shape her views on our personal responsibility for our fellow man.
Michelle then attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where she was an involved member of the College Republicans, Oshkosh Student's for Life, and Oshkosh Student Association before graduating with a Political Science and Communications degree. Twice during her college career she left school to intern for the Leadership Institute and work on campaigns.
Michelle married Tony Litjens in 1995, and they began to build a family and business together in the City of Oshkosh. With only a vision, they formed Land Pride Properties, LTD, and now run a successful operation that constructs and manages multi-family housing in the Fox Valley. Through their business endeavors, Michelle became involved with the Winnebago Apartment Association, Winnebago Home Builders, Wisconsin Apartment Association, National Federation of Independent Businesses, Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce, and Junior Achievement, among others. She cherishes the many opportunities she has to speak to students and community members about the responsibilities and benefits of being good tenants.
Michelle volunteers with the Oshkosh Unified Catholic Schools and Most Blessed Sacrament Parish. She is a proud member of the NRA and Wisconsin Right to Life. She and Tony reside in the Town of Vinland and are the proud parents of Jack,15 and Abigail, 13 and their Australian Sheppard named Tilly.
