Link to recording of Kevin DeWine's Nov. 6th Press Conference:

(Objectionable comments are in the first half of this recording)

http://blog.dispatch.com/dailybriefing/2008/11/attacked_from_the_right_blame.shtml

Family First is a non-partisan organization.  We endorse targeted candidates who meet a high bar on a range of pro-family issues, regardless of their party affiliation. However, we think it's important for our supporters to be aware of a recent development.

On Nov. 6, 2008, incoming Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine held a press conference.  He said that the GOP had a "distracting fixation on social issues" which was causing the party to lose voters.  He also suggested the GOP "exchange" a fiscal conservative message for the social conservative message.  We at Family First believe in BOTH---social & fiscal conservativism.  You don't have to exchange one for the other.  We would like to see the Republican Party be stronger on both.  And we'd like to see the Democrats change their platform to include protection of life and marriage.

Listen to Kevin DeWine's comments from his press conference and judge for yourself if they were out of line.  Then feel free to communicate your views on this to your own county and state party leaders.

Unofficial Results for Family First Endorsed Candidates

11 Wins,  4 Losses, 1 close race still being counted:

WIN  Judge Robert Ringland for 12th Dist. Court of Appeals  www.JudgeRingland.org

WIN  Judge Robert Hendrickson for 12th Dist. Court of Appeals www.HendricksonForJudge.com

LOSS  George B. Reynolds for Judge - 2nd Dist. Court of Appeals  www.ReynoldsForJudge.us  George won 5 of the 6 counties in his district, but lost Montgomery Co 60% to 40%, so it came out to a loss of 48% to 52%.  Obama had big coat tails in Dayton, without which Reynolds would've likely won.

TOO CLOSE TO CALL  Dennis Adkins for Judge - Montgomery Co. Common Pleas Court www.AdkinsForJudge.com  Dennis currently has 49.87%, his opponent has 50.13%....17,500 provisional & other ballots to be finalized by Dec. 5.  Without Obama coat tails, Adkins would've won handily.  Pray that he'll pick up enough votes from the provisionals to close this gap.

WIN  Greg Hartmann for Hamilton Co. Commissioner www.GregHartmann.com

WIN  Sheriff Phil Plummer for Montgomery Co. Sheriff www.PhilPlummerForSheriff.com

LOSS  Stephanie McCloud for Franklin Co. Treasurer www.StephanieMcCloud.com  Stephanie is Phil Burress' daughter & a sharp, experienced candidate.  We hope she'll be back to run again.  She suffered from Obama coat tails in Columbus as so many candidates did in counties with large cities.

LOSS  Tim Ginter  for State Senate Dist. 30 (Eastern Ohio) www.TimGinter.org  Tim, a former pastor, had a district that overwhelmingly favored his opponent's party, but Tim inspired many Christian conservatives & pastors to get involved, and for that we can all be thankful..

WIN  Kris Jordan  for State Rep. Dist. 2 (Delaware Co.)

WIN  Rep. Josh Mandel for re-election State Rep. Dist. 17 (Cuyahoga Co.) www.JoshMandel.com   In a district that is about 70% Democrat, Republican Josh Mandel took 71% of the vote!

WIN  Peter Stautberg for State Rep. Dist. 34 (Hamilton Co.)  www.PeterStautberg.com

WIN  Tim Derickson for State Rep. Dist. 53 (Butler Co.) www.TimDerickson.com

WIN  Seth Morgan for State Rep. Dist. 36 (Montgomery Co) www.SethMorgan.org

WIN  Ron Maag for State Rep. Dist. 35 (Warren Co.)

LOSS  Donald Eckhart for Congress (Dist. 15) www.EckhartForCongress.org  Eckhart was an Independent candidate with little chance to win, but we endorsed him on principle over the pro-abortion Republican & pro-abortion Democrat.

WIN  Commissioner Scott Wiggam for re-election Wayne County Commissioner  www.ScottWiggam.com

Thank you to all these candidates and to our supporters who made it possible for us assist them!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Fundraising Dinner on Sept. 25.

Speaker Jill Stanek, R.N, shared moving first-hand stories of babies who survived abortions but were denied medical care and left to die.  Stanek told story after story of aborted preemies who lived from a few minutes to 8 hours after being aborted alive.  Stanek was the push behind the Born Alive Infants Protection Act (both in the Illinois legislature & later at the federal level).  Then State Senator Barack Obama fought Jill's efforts to provide medical care to these preemies.  Learn more at www.JillStanek.org and see Jill's new project: www.BornAliveTruth.org

 Also during our dinner:

Dr. Jack Willke & Barbara Willke were presented with our 2008 Family First Champion Award for a lifetime of work on behalf of unborn children.  We can't think of anyone more deserving of our annual award!
