Welcome Back to the Campaign!
A Letter from Rebekah
Thank you for visiting the official Rebekah Warren for State Representative website, and welcome to my reelection campaign.
It seems only yesterday that my team and I stood on your doorstep, asking for your support in my campaign to represent the residents of Ann Arbor in Michigan’s State House of Representatives. Yet almost two years have passed and while this term has certainly not been without its challenges, I remain proud and honored to have the opportunity to serve you and the state of Michigan and enact public policies that I know will move us toward a brighter, stronger future: preserving our environmental integrity, ensuring access to quality health care, guaranteeing exceptional schools, protecting our civil rights and liberties, and promoting economic innovation.
Throughout this year and a half, I have worked diligently to provide leadership on these issues, serving as Chair of the Great Lakes and Environment Committee and as a member of the Ethics and Elections Committee, Judiciary Committee, Regulatory Reform Committee, Tax Policy Committee, and Senior Health, Security and Retirement Committee. At the same time, I have been named Chair of Judiciary’s sub-committee on Corrections and Sex Offender Registration and worked as a member of Tax Policy’s sub-committee on Tax Loopholes.
Prior to my work as a lawmaker, I gained critical experience working in Lansing, first as chief of staff to Democratic State Representatives Mary Schroer (D-Ann Arbor) and Hubert Price (D-Pontiac) from 1993 to 1999, and then as Executive Director of MARAL Pro-Choice Michigan, the state’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-choice organization. In this age of term limits, this expertise distinguishes me from the majority of candidates and new legislators, who are forced to rely on lobbyists and staff for the years of experience that they can no longer get through the tenure system.
Within the last year and a half, I have turned this experience into action at the Capitol: negotiating a groundbreaking package of bills that effectively ban the diversion of Great Lakes water from outside the basin and shepherding several pieces of legislation through the House that promise to preserve our natural resources, advancing the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and protecting Medicaid funding for our most vulnerable young adults, spearheading the Prevention First package to reduce unintended pregnancies, and working as Co-Chair of the bi-partisan Bio-Tech Caucus to promote the development of life science and bio-tech companies. While our work is certainly not done, I remain encouraged by the progress that we have made and hope that I can count on your support in my campaign to continue to champion the values we share.
As I launch my reelection campaign, your generous support – whether that be allowing me to publicly list your endorsement, giving your time as a volunteer, displaying a yard sign or making a donation – will continue to be critical. By visiting the site, you have already taken action. I hope that you will further explore the subsequent pages, learn about my record of accomplishment, and get involved in the campaign.
Of course, if you have any questions, thoughts or concerns about the issues that matter to you, please feel free to contact me at 734-662-0268 or rebekah@rebekahwarren.com. I would be delighted to speak with you at any time and look forward to working with you this summer and fall.
Sincerely,

Rebekah Warren
