Family and Intimate Violence

1 in 4 women and 1 in 8 men will experience violence in their lifetime. This violence typically begins at home and negatively impacts children and families. It often leads to trauma and significant developmental disturbance.

The Prosecutor's Office should dedicate resources to address the issues of Family and Intimate Violence, no matter which court may be assigned to hear the case(s).

The attorney, along with the support staff handling the case, needs to know the big picture of the legal issues impacting the family not just the facts of one isolated incident dissected from the fabric of the family's history.

This means sharing information throughout the courthouse so the best possible decisions can be made to safeguard the family members and restore order.
