Postcards From Seattle
Grandparents for Obama organizer, Susan Godfrey, organized 25 people who came together at the Capital Hill home of Kay Bullitt in Seattle to write personal post cards to undecided independent seniors in the battleground state of Florida. These designated NP voters live in gated communities where they could not be canvassed. Mostly seniors, with half never having been involved in a political campaign outside of voting, they wrote out hundreds of Washington State theme post cards urging those undecided voters to consider Barack Obama to be their choice for our next President. One participant, 80 year old Edna Matsubu had been searching for a way she could personally do something that would make a difference in this campaign. " This was the perfect way I could contribute. It allowed me to communicate to other seniors what is in my heart and why I feel so strongly about the importance of this election." Over 300 post cards were mailed along with many other seniors who could not make the event on Friday, coming by to pick up names and addresses with others organizing their own groups.
