ACTION ITEMS
While not a complete listing of all activities individuals and groups can do, this to-do list should help volunteers spread the message and recruit new volunteers. If you find an activity that works for you that is not included on the list, please send it to: feedback@grandparentsforobama.com.
1) Sign up to volunteer and to get the newsletter. This will allow Grandparents for Obama to keep you informed.
2) Talk to your friends, fellow employees and neighbors. Tell them to go to GrandparentsforObama.org and find out more about our movement.
3) Purchase campaign buttons, bumper stickers and t-shirts. These are guaranteed to get people's attention. Before you know it, they will be asking for a button and bumper sticker for thier friends, and a t-shit for themselves. See "Campaign Materials" page for ordering instructions. Wear your button or t-shirt everywhere.
4) Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Tell why you support Barack Obama and mention you are a member of Grandparents for Obama. Always give the website - GrandparentsforObama.org.
5) Visit as many blogs as you have time for. Where there is an opporunity to comment on the presidential race, speak out for Barack Obama and mention GrandparentsforObama.org.
6) Go to your local Democratic Club monthly meeting. Take our flier with you (see "Downloads" page) and take a few buttons and bumper stickers. They will be a hit.
7) Start a local Grandparents for Obama group. It's as easy as sending a message to volunteers@grandparentsforobama.org. Then get a few friends and like-minded people to join you. Your name will appear on a "Groups" page as a contact in your city. There will be no specific time committment on your part -- just do as much as you want to.
8) Table at events. Set up a table at your local street fair or other community event. Have a supply of buttons, bumper stickers and fliers. Invite people to join Grandparents for Obama.
9) Register new voters. Contact your local Democratic Party for ways you can help register new voters.
10) Urge 'Independent', 'Green' and 'Decline to State' voters to vote for Obama in November.
11) Print Grandparents for Obama bookmarks on heavy paper. You can find the template on the "Downloads" page. Hole punch the top and add a colorful string. Give to all your friends who read. They make an inexpensive handout you can keep with you whenever you're out and about.
