Welcome!

The Alliance for Nevada's Economic Prosperity is a group of Nevadans who want the state to urge Congress for a change to the plans at Yucca to make it an Energy Park.  This park will host a research facility, an interim and long-term repository, and, eventually, a reprocessing plant that will generate clean energy by reprocessing the spent fuel.

Considering that Nevada is the most economically-stressed state in the nation, we need to diversift our economy.  We can no longer depend on tourists and gaming to fund our state.   We have to find new, stable revenue sources, and the Yucca Energy Park is a start.

The Park could provide thousands of manufacturing, construction and operational jobs and bring in over $2 billion annually to Nevada for the next 100 years.

These funds can help keep the Yucca site safe and fund our state budget with minimal tax implications to Nevadans.  Funds can also be generated to support a Trust Fund (similar to Alaska) that would provide monies directly to Nevadans for helping our nation tackle this challenging problem of disposing of spent nuclear fuel.

The demand for electricity in the US is projected to increase 26% over the next 20 years.   Nuclear power is one of the safest and most reliable forms of energy available and it emits no greenhouse gases.  (And yes, there is adequate water in the Armargosa Valley to support a nuclear power plant.)

While many elected officials will tell you privately that they are open to a more rational discussion of Yucca Mountain, there aren’t very many profiles in courage who will say so publicly.

So we started this website to get out the TRUTH about Yucca so that we Nevadans can analyze the project and make a decision to support or oppose it based on the truth.
