Administrators at the University of Mississippi are crying foul after merchandising companies violated an agreement with the university by selling merchandise at the 2010 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic that featured the Colonel Reb logo. “We did not approve Colonel Reb on any logo,” Kathy Tidwell, manager of contractual serv...ices, said. Tidwell said there are at least two companies licensed to sell Ole Miss products that went against the agreement. The administration reviewed the products beforehand and asked for a design change after seeing Colonel Reb.
All the ASB candidates for office completely wimped out on the mascot issue. Each one proclaimed they would represent the student's voice, but not one said they would keep the Colonel.
The only item presented to students in online voting that began this morning and continues until 5 p.m. is a yes-or-no question on whether a student-led process should be initiated to develop a new mascot.
