"

I am exceedingly pleased to endorse Larry Haws for the 15-b Legislative House Seat.  As a school principal, I first knew Larry personally when he volunteered as a soccer coach for North Junior High. The kids loved him.

When we wanted to start a wrestling program, North’s assistant
principal recommended Larry because Larry had been his coach in high school and he knew Larry to be an outstanding mentor for kids.  When asked, Larry graciously agreed  to start the program. Again the kids loved him –especially kids that he inspired to participate who might never be there except for Larry.

Since then, I have become personally aware of Larry’s involvement and commitment to so many areas of our community. His work at Whitney Senior Center, his support of the Southside Boys and Girls Club, his collaboration with the St. Cloud School District in his role as Park and Recreation Director, his support of Anna Marie’s ...and the list goes on.

Besides all of that, Larry is a wonderful poet!

I support Larry Haws because Larry’s passion is to grow a healthy community and he has helped to do that with his life.  He has “put his money where his mouth is”; he has planted roots of caring all over this community – especially for the vulnerable, the marginalized, and the at risk.  Larry knows us; he knows what we need.  There is no finer person to represent us in St. Paul than Larry Haws.

"

Warren Bradbury from St. Cloud says ..
"

How often do we find a candidate for public office who brings
generous helpings of experience, wisdom, and hope to the table? Not very often. And when we find such a person, we are fortunate, indeed. Larry Haws is just such a person and candidate. I not only support him, I am excited to have such a good person to support.

Larry’s experience, in community and public service, in working with youth and everyday citizens and the elderly, and in caring for the institutions and businesses of our city and county, equip him to be a strong legislator.

Larry’s wisdom, accumulated over many years of family life, of coaching young people, of dealing with problems and opportunities of living, have prepared him to make the difficult and important decisions in state policy that influence the quality of life Minnesotans value.

And Larry is a man of faith and hope. His belief that public service is a way to share one’s gifts and blessings makes him not only the kind of office holder we would want. They make him a model for future generations, a representative of the kind of person we would want to carry our wishes to the legislature.

Vaclav Havel said, “Hope is not the same as joy that things are going well, or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously heading for success, but rather an ability to work for something because it is good.”

I am glad to have a chance to work for and with a person who has devoted his life to working for goals simply because they are good and because it is the right thing to do.

Joel Stark from St. Cloud says ..
"I am a teacher for St. Cloud School District 742 and strongly
agree with Patricia Welter's support for Larry.  I have taught students in alternative learning for 6 years and know Larry Haws will be an advocate for education. His decades of commitment to the youth in this community are remarkable.  I believe that Larry Haws will take that same devotion  to the State Capital and be an enduring voice for Central Minnesota.
"

Jean Madsen from St. Cloud says ..
"I support Larry Haws because I want a representative who will
speak clearly for the best interest of all of us.  His personal integrity is one of his strong characteristics.  He speaks the truth with compassion and concern for all.  When Larry says something, you can believe he has studied the question and will not deviate from his commitment to what is the best for all Minnesotans.
"

Paula Erdmann from Clear Lake says ..
"Larry has been an active member of the Tri-CAP Board of
Directors, always serving as an advocate for the low income people in our area. He listens, asks good questions, then moves forward to reach a resolution. He is very accessible and truly cares about the people of Central MN."

Cassandra Bixler from St. Cloud says ..
"Larry Haws is an enthusiastic, hardworking, and dedicated citizen
of the St. Cloud area.  As a student at St. Cloud State I can say that Larry has supported higher-education and the rights of all students.  Larry has been Stearns County Commissioner for seven years and has been thoroughly involved in the community all his years in St. Cloud.  I know that he will be a great representative for the St. Cloud area and will speak on behalf of
everyone!  I am a firm supporter of Larry Haws and I know he in turn supports his constituents."

Brad Cobb from St. Cloud says ..
"Larry Haws recognizes the loss of natural lands and wildlife areas as a real concern that needs to be addressed.  Haws has stated in the Times the need for addressing these concerns.  Haws feels that organizations such as Stearns County Pheasants Forever plays a significant role in slowing the decline of natural resources and toward the restoration and preservation of these resources."

Alice Rademacher from St. Cloud says ..

Silvia Ferraretto from St. Cloud says ..
"Larry Haws continues to be steadfast in his concern for the welfare of seniors and is known for his concern and his civic leadership and participation in that arena.  He is by no means a single-issue politician.  He is a responsible civil servant and community volunteer who cares about the quality of life on many fronts."

Lynn Hanson from St. Cloud says ..
"I have known Larry Haws since 1974.  He and I worked together on several projects.  Two of his primary concerns are the diversity issues in the community and the importance of our youth.  Because St. Cloud and the surrounding area is experiencing an influx of people from other cultures, Larry is committed to the bottom line that our community must have a very low tolerance to those who violate discrimination and bias laws.  He thinks that the best diversity plan is to take an individual action."

Chuck Christenson from St. Cloud says ..
"The Whitney Senior Center is a regional facility that Larry’s leadership helped establish.  At that time, former Mayor Al Loehr, senior advocate Martha Broker and Park Director Larry Haws had the vision to remodel the old airport hangers.  This vision and the resulting senior center is a boon to the St. Cloud senior population.  We support and salute Larry Haws for his leadership to senior citizens of our community."

Paul Kieser from Twin Cities says ..
"Since the time has arrived when many people have begun to question the future of our community youth, the time has arrived to elect a person who knows and cares about our youth like no other.    Larry Haws has always been approachable and responsive.  He has gained respect and support by being a good listener."

Erin Clark from Champlin says ..
"As a social worker serving the seniors in nursing homes throughout the State of Minnesota, I need to call on citizens for volunteering.  The Good Samaritan in St. Cloud whom I’ve called upon many times is Larry Haws whose numerous talents of oratory, humor and artistry are treasured by my clients.  The characteristic most apparent to me is the aura of love that is emitted to the seniors he serves."
