District 200 Issues Web Site

It goes without saying that the purpose of District 200's existence is to educate children.  But we must consider the impact of raising taxes on the family budgets of those who must feed, clothe, house, and care for our children:  THEIR PARENTS.

If we continue raising taxes and spending, we will make our community less affordable for working families with children.  If their families can't afford to live here, how can these children benefit from overspending "for the children" by District 200?

We must exercise economic discipline in District 200.  Families and businesses have to live within their budgets; District 200 should do so as well.  Using the phrase "for the children" does not justify unrestrained spending.  Families also face rising health care, gasoline, insurance, and other costs.

Candy in moderation can be a treat, but no responsible parent gives a child as much candy as he or she wants to eat.  Likewise, although there are many sweet-appearing spending options for District 200, every tax dollar spent comes out of a family or business budget.  I urge the Board to vote for sensible, nutritious, moderate and balanced budgets for District 200.
