I support making changes at Yucca Mt. that will benefit Nevadans.
My vision includes Yucca serving as an interim repository, hosting a R&D complex to research renewable energies and develop nuclear reprocessing technologies, and possibly building a reprocessing facility that will use the spent fuel to generate inexpensive, clean power for Nevadans.
Such an "Energy Park" would create thousands of jobs and provide a sustainable income for our state for decades to come. I also support creating an Alaskan-style trust fund that will pay Nevadans directly for their "willingness" to help solve a national energy problem.
There are substantial monies available if the state enters into serious negotiations, which it has never done! These funds can help make and keep the site safe and provide significant funds to our state budget, helping keep our taxes to low. |
