As Deputy County Attorney, Fred Goodman works in juvenile justice. One year of secure Juvenile Detention costs $160,000. Fred believes we need to put more resources into prevention to improve our communities and save these at risk youths from failing to reach their potiential. Spending these resources on education now saves us the large expense of secure detention later.
Fred supports full funding of the CFE decision to bring more money into the school districts most at need without taking funding away from the districts that are currently succeeding. This investment must be tied to academic standards and funding new and innovative programs to help our children reach their full potiential.
The state must also fund mandatory after school programs for high risk kids from (3pm-6pm). It is a proven fact that between 3pm and 6pm is when most at risk kids get into trouble due to lack of adequate supervision. By putting them in these programs, we can provide them with quality education and a support system to help keep them out of trouble. Fred also supports mandatory summer programs for high risk kids to help continue these mentorships throughout the year. |
