Some REGIONAL ISSUES:
The most critical regional issues that I see at this time are the: Cobo Hall Expansion, the mass transit authority, and the water and sewer expansion to the rural/lake communities. Now with the new leadership forming in Detroit, I believe that we can move forward in these areas. As long as Oakland County tax dollars are involved, Oakland County should have an equal role in any plans and decisions made.
If the mass transit system comes to fruition, if properly planned, could bring businesses and generate employment in the region. The only issue that doesn’t appear to be feasible at this time from an economical viewpoint is the expansion of city water and sewers to the rural/lake communities. The cost to the home owners and the communities to change over to a city water and sewer system would be too expensive unless a federal grant could be explored |
