Kurt Hayes is a hard working husband, father, and businessperson.   Like most voters in the six towns comprising the 37th Middlesex district, Kurt is fed up with the ineffectiveness of our elected leaders in the State House.  Spending is out of control, power and back-room politics trump sound legislative judgement, and votes are made under the influence of lobbyists and arm-twisting rather than what is best for the people.    Kurt has decided that rather than simply ask, “Why doesn’t somebody do something?”, it is time for him to take action.  That is why Kurt is dedicated to earning your vote for the 37th Middlesex district seat in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Independent,  Republican, and Democratic voters alike are angry and ready for a break from politics as usual on Beacon Hill.  The voters of the 37th Middlesex district deserve a candidate who will stand up and fight for them.  Kurt Hayes is that candidate; a commonsense, dedicated man from among the people he will represent.  Kurt will commit his time, energy, and skills to standing up for the citizens of Acton (precinct 3, 4, 5), Boxborough, Harvard, Lancaster (precinct 1), Lunenburg, and Shirley.

Kurt’s votes will not be pre-determined by ideology, but by sound judgment and analysis.  Kurt has 20 years of professional experience helping businesses improve while also becoming more efficient.  Businesses must adopt innovative solutions, transform themselves, and provide a solid return on new investments in order to survive and thrive in the marketplace.  Our district needs a strong leader who will take this same commonsense approach to Beacon Hill as he fights for his constituents.  Kurt is that leader.

Kurt is the youngest of three boys, born in Peoria, Illinois.  Kurt also lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Stamford, Connecticut, and Albuquerque, New Mexico during his childhood.

After graduating from college in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a focus on Information Technology, Kurt began his career in Dallas/Fort Worth with IBM, the global software, services, and technology company.  A job assignment first brought Kurt to New England in 1991.  It was during that seven-month stay in the area that Kurt met his future wife, Debbie, a native of Bedford.  They married in 1993.  In 1995, Kurt landed a new position with IBM that enabled the couple to return to the Boston area.

Kurt, Debbie, two sons, and daughter live in Boxborough.

Kurt enjoys spending time with his wife and children, coaching little league baseball, and watching his children participate in sporting events, musical recitals, and other activities they enjoy.

When time allows, Kurt enjoys golf, bike riding, and reading for continued growth and learning on all topics.

Largely due to his early childhood years in the Midwest, Kurt has always been a Chicago sports fan.  However, having now lived in Massachusetts longer than anywhere else (13 years starting in 1995), Kurt (and the family) are avid, devoted fans of the Boston/New England sports teams.

On the Red Sox, Kurt comments, "It's been easy to become a dedicated Red Sox fan.  When I was first up here back in 1991, all the local guys I was working with often led us to the '99' after work to watch the Red Sox on TV.  I just didn't get their dedication, their joy and anguish over each game.  The 'curse', 'Buckner', you name it.  However, I caught that fever after moving here in 1995.  I've been a huge fan through some of those lean years.  It was incredible to watch the 2004 and 2007 seasons that ended with the World Series wins. We're enjoying a great period in New England sports history right now.  We have multiple championships each for the Red Sox and Patriots in this first decade of the 21st century.  The Celtics just completed their successful quest for a 17th NBA Championship banner, and the Red Sox are headed to the playoffs again".
