"My Heart Is For Kids" I have a heart for kids and I want to directly advocate for all of the students and families in the Columbia Heights school district.  Since my family is very involved in the schools, I am well aware of the needs and want to be part of meeting those needs in the most effective way possible.  We need to reverse the declining enrollment, increase parental involvement and continue to partner with parents to help their children successfully reach their potential.  The record shows that the district improved educationally and fiscally during my previous time serving on the school board, and I want to continue to build on that record.

I seek to bring an intelligent, common sense and cooperative approach to the decision making process.  The greatest asset that I bring to the board is my unique and fresh perspective as an informed parent, local business owner and experienced school board member.   I will be ready to contribute to the board right away because I am already very familiar with the school district and the challenges that need to be met to improve the district through my continued involvement. I will use my strong commitment to community service, combined with my demonstrated leadership skills and positive attitude to help meet the needs of all the students in Columbia Heights public schools. 

I want to help the schools obtain better educational results through greater accountability, higher graduation rates, efficiently and effectively using limited resources and proven techniques and by fostering better discipline and better classroom environment.  I want to continue my focus on improvement for all students at all educational levels by giving the staff and students the training, resources and encouragement they need to excel.   I also want to help grow and improve our arts, athletic and other extracurricular programs and help attract new families to our schools so that our schools and our community will grow stronger.  It is vitally important to have strong and vibrant schools if we are going to maintain a strong and vibrant community.
