 RESUME OF ED BALICO

Council Member Ed Balico was first elected to the Hercules City Council for a four-year term in November 2000 and was appointed Vice-Mayor in December 2001 and became Mayor in December 2002 and Chairperson of the Hercules Redevelopment Agency.

Ed was re-elected in November 2004 and garnered the highest votes ever by an elected official in the history of the city of Hercules. He was again reappointed as a Vice-Mayor in December 2005 and became Mayor of the city of Hercules in December 2006 and Chairperson of the Hercules Redevelopment Agency. He currently serves as a member of the Hercules City Council. Prior to being elected to the City Council, Council Member Balico served the community as a Planning Commissioner for six years in the capacity of Vice-Chairperson and Chairperson.

Council Member Balico graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Have numerous certifications in the fields of Project Management, Total Quality Management, Problem Solving Process, Leadership Development, Public Speaking and Personnel Management. He has worked for a Fortune 100 companies for over 20 years, upon his departure he left the company as a senior project manager. He currently works for a start-up company as a consultant for California Housing Solutions, Inc.

Council Member Balico has been a resident in the City of Hercules since 1985 with his wife, Evelyn, a registered nurse and their children John, Jill and Jennifer. 

Council Member Balico is very active in the community. Some of his affiliations are; Board of Director, Fil Ams of Hercules; Founder, City of Hercules Golf Club in 2001; Friends of the Hercules Library; Hercules Chinese Association; Hercules Community Partnership; Hercules Booster Club; Hercules 5 and Friends; Hercules Rotary Club; Chamber of Commerce; Asian American Golf Club; city of Hercules Golf Club and Honorary Member of the Hercules Teen Youth Council.

Council Member Balico graduated from the League of California Cities Mayors and Council Members Leadership in Action Academy, wherein there were only ten elected officials in the State of California who share this distinctive level at that time. He was instrumental in the formation of the Asian Pacific Islanders Caucus of the League of California Cities. His efforts in the arena have been recognized and commended by various state elected officials including Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007.
