About Ted

Thanks for wanting to learn more about me.  I have been a resident of Columbia Heights for 19 years.  I am 48, married to my wife Kelly, and have two beautiful children.  My two daughters are currently in Columbia Heights Public Schools, Kristen is in 7th grade at Central Middle School, and Katie is a sophmore at Columbia Heights High School.  I earned a J.D. and an M.B.A. in Finance at the University of Minnesota.  I am a self-employed lawyer for Landwehr Law Offices.

I served on the Columbia Heights School Board from 1996 to 2000.   After serving on the board, I continued to stay involved as a member of the Community Curriculum Advisory Committee, the District Finance Committee, the Teaching and Learning Advisory Committee, the District Referendum Committee, and the Central Middle School 8th Grade Party Committee.  I have also taught Community Education classes.

In the city, I have enjoyed serving on numerous committees and organizations such as the Activity Center Advisory Committee, the Charter Commission, Lions Club, Sister Cities, Columbia Heights Boosters and Rising to New Heights.  I have also coached my daughter’s softball teams through the Recreation Department.

I want to partner with the other board members to best meet the diverse needs of the children and families in the school district.  I learned a great deal during my previous time on the board and I hope to continue to evaluate how to make our children’s experience in the schools the best it can be.
