Experience
As a Court Commissioner, I am the only candidate with Superior Court bench experience. I have handled some of the court’s most crowded calendars in a fair and effective manner. I have conducted hundreds of traffic and small claims court bench trials. I have successfully completed Superior Court assignments handling thousands of misdemeanor arraignments, violations of probation and sentencing matters. I have experience handling juvenile delinquency and dependency proceedings. I was appointed to my current position by an overwhelming majority of Superior Court judges based on my 20 years of legal experience practicing both civil and criminal law. As a lawyer, I represented victims of crime as well as those accused of wrongdoing. I have felony trial experience and complex civil litigation experience. I have demonstrated that I have the independence, integrity and judicial temperament to be a fair and objective judge.
Moreover, for the past 25 years I have worked with community groups, civic leaders, educators and youths in promoting higher education and equal access to justice. I have served on the City of San Jose Elections Commission, the Santa Clara University School of Law Board of Visitors, the East San Jose Community Law Center Advisory Board, and on various other boards, county bar committees and non profit legal organizations. I have also been a mentor and role model for disadvantaged youths for over twenty years.
I have the support and endorsement of many judges, commissioners, distinguished members of the bar, civic leaders, community groups and others. Out of the entire field of candidates running for judge, I am the only judicial officer with real experience on the bench. I believe I am the most qualified to serve as judge and I humbly ask for your support and your important vote.
When casting your vote on JUNE 3, 2008, please remember that judges make important decisions everyday that affect our individual rights, freedoms and safety. Each judge has the power and awesome responsibility to make decisions that can affect nearly everyone in our society. By electing experienced and independent judges you are protecting and promoting the integrity and independence of our courts. Your vote does make a difference. I believe when you review all the candidates' qualifications, your informed decision will be to support me in this election.
