"Information is the currency of democracy"

                                                                       Thomas Jefferson

Why is it then that John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Media Matters and the democratic controlled Congress are trying to bring back the fairness doctrine that was found by the Supreme Court to limit our constitutional right to free speech?  It is because they fear that when the truth is freely disseminated they will lose the power they have acquired through false promises, lies about the war and attacks on the current administration that the mainstream media continues to propagate.  Thomas Jefferson also wrote, "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny, when their government fears the people, there is liberty."

Today's politicians care most about how their votes will effect their party.  Would it not be better to have someone more concerned about right and wrong then left and right?  As your Representative, my concern will always be what is right for the country.  Politicians often oppose an idea merely because it was raised by the opposing party rather then on the merits of the idea.

"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.  Government programs, once launched, never disappear.  Actually a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth."

                                                                                                Ronald Reagan

The 2003 tax cuts have led to the largest revenues ever brought into Washington, yet our national debt continues to grow at an alarming rate.  Two things need to be done to change this course and for our future.  First, we need the presidential line item veto.  This may seem like an odd recommendation from someone aspiring to be a member of the house, since this would appear to limit its constitutional authority.  I would argue that Congress would still maintain control through use of the override vote on any line item veto. It would force members of Congress to decide whether we really need a bridge to nowhere or the environmental impact study on the methane gas emissions of cows. I would further argue that the billions of dollars currently spent each year through earmarks for special interest projects are not in our best interest.  Second, we need to pass a law that requires with every new dollar of government spending initiated we cut a dollar from an outdated, obsolete, wasteful program.

"Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth."

                                                                       George Washington

The problem with guns is that we fail to apply swift and severe punishment for their illegal use.  We now feel so strongly about the accuracy of DNA evidence that we are releasing people from prison based on this new technology.  With this same certainty, we should be able to eliminate lengthy appeals and administer the ultimate punishment to those who commit capital crimes.  We must reject the idea that every time a law is broken society is somehow guilty.

"Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto."

                                                                 Thomas Jefferson

America should never enter into any trade agreements or treaties that diminishes our independence or sovereignty. We should never hand over control to the likes of the United Nations or the W.T.O. We should always look at any trade agreement through the lens of whether or not it is good for America. There is no doubt that we must continue to develop strong trade relations throughout the world.  Our economy depends on it.  We must also insure a level playing field so that American companies would never be put at a disadvantage.

"If the present Congress errs in too much talking, how can it be otherwise in a body to which the people send 150 lawyers, whose trade it is to question everything, yield nothing and talk by the hour?"

                                                                                       Thomas Jefferson

It is already the law of the land to build a fence on the Mexican border, yet our elected officials prefer to continue the debate on the issue rather than do what is right for the safety of our country.  Our schools, hospitals and other vital services are being over burdened.  Criminal activity is growing at an alarming rate along our southern border and is spilling out into communites throughout the country.  Drugs continue to pour in undeterred. Even more imminent is the possibility of terrorists entering and causing catastrophic destruction to our bridges, subways and financial district. Yet, our politicians continue to debate the issue.  We need to build the fence and secure the border...enforce current laws.

"The personal right to acquire property, which is a natural right, gives to property, when acquired, a right of protection, as a social right."

                                                                 James Madison

Originally, eminent domain allowed government to claim private property, at a price, from its owners in order to build roads, schools, courthouses, etc. for the public good.  It has now been expanded by local governments to take so-called blighted properties and sell them to developers and subsequently expand their property tax base. Take the case of the retired couple in Lakeland, Ohio, who lived in their house for over 30 years.  Their property was deemed blighted because it did not have air-conditioning or a two-car garage.  Personal property should never be seized for the commercial gain of any person or business.

"One way or the other we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is the bottom line."

                                                                                                Bill Clinton

"Every nation has to either be with us or against us.  Those who harbor terrorist, or who finance them, are going to pay a price."

                                                                                                Hillary Clinton

"The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it.  And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender or submission."                                                                                                   John F. Kennedy

Do you feel the war in Iraq was necessary and part of the war on terror?  I certainly do.

I am asking for your support, so I can be the voice in Washington that is so desperately needed.
