| As formally announced Sunday, January 27th, I will seek election to serve the people of the 21st District in the Michigan House of Representatives.
Why Lansing?
Following a government shutdown, a tax increase and the highest unemployment rate in the nation, it is time for change in Michigan. I am running for State Representative because I will not sit back and continue to watch Michigan struggle. I will work hard to turn this state around. I believe in optimism for tomorrow.
In Lansing, I will fight to: fix the economy and create jobs, cut waste and reform government, and increase access to education. I have spent the majority of my life in this community, and will work hard to represent the residents in the townships of Canton, Van Buren and the City of Belleville.
Believe in me.
I have worked in human resources to find people jobs every day of my entire professional career, and I have the type of experience and training necessary to help the state shift focus to job creation. I am the co-founder of LaJoy Group, a company focused on staffing, workforce management and assessments.
Fix the Economy and Create Jobs
It is appalling to simply sit back and accept the highest unemployment rate in the nation. By now, I’m sure we all know someone who is unemployed. At local job fairs, it’s not hundreds of people looking for work, it’s thousands. We should provide incentives for small businesses and promote entrepreneurship. Michigan should be the best state to start up a business. We must reduce bureaucratic red-tape that prevents companies from expanding, while making the process the government move faster. I will encourage innovation in all industries. I believe my experience and training are the right fit in addressing this number one problem facing our state.
Cut Waste and Reform Government
I believe we should demand efficient and effective government. We need increased transparency by posting all state spending on line. We should justify all department staffing and service levels prior to funding. My personal strengths of building relationships, listening, and working with residents to help solve their problems will help me change a dysfunctional government.
Increase Access to Education
I will fight to make college more affordable by encouraging schools to be fiscally accountable before raising tuition. I will work hard to close the gap inequity for K-12 per pupil funding.
My wife Amy and I are proud to live in this community.
I would be honored to have your support. If you would like to meet with me, or discuss an issue important to you, please don’t hesitate to call me at (734-674-0061).
Sincerely,
Todd LaJoy
p.s. The people of Michigan want new leadership for Jobs and Reform. I will work hard to turn Michigan around!
