BIOGRAPHY

 

Representative Debbie Stafford is a third term Colorado legislator representing District 40 in Eastern Arapahoe and Elbert Counties.  She serves as the ranking member on the Health and Human Services Committee and is a member of the Local Government Committee.  She served as the Chair of the legislative Affordable Housing Task Force.  Rep. Stafford received a White House appointment to the Federal Home Loan Board, Bank of Topeka, representing affordable housing issues as a Public Interest Director.

 

As an Ordained Minister, Domestic Violence Counselor, and Auctioneer, Rep. Stafford has served Colorado citizens in many dimensions.  She is the Chairman of the Board of Project Heritage, a transitional housing program in Denver, CO.  Debbie has co-authored the book, Shattered Dreams, a Biblical Outlook on Domestic Violence and assisted in the writing of the book, The Welfare of My Neighbor.

 

As an auctioneer, Debbie has raised a great deal of money for non-profit organizations and schools in the metro area.  Rep. Stafford is the co-chair of the Key Community Response Team in the city of Aurora and serves on many boards and community projects as well as spoke for the dedication of the Colorado office for the Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Washington, D. C.

 

Debbie responsed to Hurricane Katrina evacuees at Lowry and managed the state’s 1-800 # with the Colorado Division of Local Affairs and FEMA on long term housing and assistance for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita evacuees.

 

Her greatest love is her family, however, she thoroughly enjoys cooking, camping, and sky diving!
