Proud American

From a very young age, Emily Csendes Ricard has felt truly blessed to be an American. Her father and grandparents fled Hungary shortly after communism took over that country. Emily remembers her grandmother’s vivid stories of losing everything and moving to Canada to become tomato farmers. Emily honors her heritage through a deep commitment to defending American ideals of opportunity and freedom.

Economic Knowledge

Emily earned her Bachelors cum laude in Economics from Wellesley College and her M.B.A. in Finance from New York University.

Emily began a successful career in Merrill Lynch's NASDAQ trading department.

With her considerable knowledge of economics and finance, Emily can create jobs for New York, strengthen the economy, and manage the state’s $110 billion budget.

Dedicated Teacher

Working in Manhattan’s financial district, Emily loved the pace, the people, and the money. Like many New Yorkers, September 11^th changed Emily’s life. Watching the attack on the World Trade Center across the street from her office changed her priorities. Emily gave up her successful finance job to become a public school teacher in Harlem. She knows that New York’s children are the key to the state’s future peace and prosperity. As one teacher in a classroom, Emily cannot change New York’s failing public schools. In Albany Emily Ricard will be able to do more to ensure New York’s bright future.

Responsible Representation

Having lived on the West Side for nine years, Emily knows too many families who have been forced out of New York by high taxes, unaffordable housing, and failing schools. Emily will fight to change these problems so that families will still choose to live here.

With her background in both the Financial District and the School District, Emily Ricard is uniquely qualified to guide New York through its greatest challenges. She will work tirelessly to articulate the voices of all New Yorkers.
