Klimek Ready to Address Issues and Provide Leadership

The 55th District deserves a legislator that will represent the community and will provide leadership to address the issues facing our families, schools, and businesses.  We should not re-elect a legislator that is connected to lobbyists and special interests and has not addressed the issues facing our District.  It is time for a change.  Now is the time to elect a community representative that understands government should work for the people, not special interests.

Government cannot solve all our problems; but government services and policies affect the ability of families and businesses to grow and prosper.  State government has a primary responsibility to ensure quality education is available in Ohio, live within a budget, support and work with local governments, and ensure that benefits to lobbyists and special interests are not placed ahead of the citizens of Ohio.

Ohio cannot prosper when we graduate less than 75% of students from high school.  We must take steps to improve our graduation rate and the quality of education.  Education systems that are not working should be changed; simply throwing money at a problem is not a solution.  We should implement proven methods and try innovative approaches to provide the next generation with skills to become productive citizens.  An educated work force with strong technical and professional skills will provide the basis for Ohio prosperity.  Our K-12 school funding system must be reformed; college and post-secondary technical education should be affordable and available to Ohio students to acquire the skills to compete in a global economy.

Government must live within budgets and spend money wisely; it is important that our legislators work with municipalities and school districts to find equitable ways to fund essential services such as education and public safety.  Recent tax system changes in Ohio have diverted funding from local townships and school districts.  These changes will have an adverse impact on Ohio citizens.  Legislators should work with local leaders to ensure essential public services are provided to our communities.

Legislators should be responsible to their districts and work for the citizens of Ohio.  Although it is legal, legislators should not work for firms that sell lobbying services.  The incumbent legislator from the 55th District, Bill Coley, works for a law firm that advertises “immediate access to government officials.”   The financial crisis facing our country is partly the result of lobbyist influence on the federal government and putting greed and requests from special interests above the general welfare of our country.  Prohibiting state legislators from working for companies that sell lobbying services, or voting them out of office, will prevent similar disasters from occurring in state government.  Tony Klimek is not employed by, nor will he work for, a company that sells lobbying services.

Tony Klimek is an active member of the community.  He understand the issues facing the 55th District and will provide the leadership to move our District and Ohio forward.
