Tim Legarsky is a life long resident of southwestern and a Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania's congressional delegation. He was born in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, the son of George T. Legarsky and Janet Gail Tyrpin, and raised in Long Branch, Pennsylvania, where he currently resides.
Tim Legarsky is a teacher and small business owner in the Mon Valley area. He attended California Area High School in California, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1995. While still a senior at California Area High School, Tim won the primary election for borough council; serving from 1996-2000. Tim enrolled in and worked his way through California University of Pennsylvania as a school and tour bus driver, where he graduated with a degree in Political Science in 1999. Upon graduation, Tim worked as an assistant general manager and school bus instructor for a local bus company. In 2002, he returned to college and attended Robert Morris University and obtained a Secondary Social Studies teaching certification. Tim began teaching in 2004 and in 2005, attended the University of Pittsburgh and worked towards a Master’s Degree of Education with a dual certificate K-12 Principal/Supervisor of Curriculum. In addition to being certified in Social Studies, he also received secondary teaching certifications in English and Driver Education. In 2007, Tim opened a private driver training school and small excavation business.
As a teacher and small business owner, he has dedicated his life to lifelong education and public service. His priorities, if elected to Congress, will be to: support an economic policy aimed at rebuilding Southwestern Pennsylvania’s infrastructure and restoring our eroded job market, focus on improving educational polices, fight for health care for all Americans, protect Medicare and Social Security, reduce our dependency on foreign oil, lower and stabilize skyrocketing gas prices, protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gases, and bring our troops home from the Middle East.
Tim Legarsky has said: “As an Educator, my hope is to also bring education to the forefront of issues. I believe there are workable solutions available that will enhance our children’s learning achievements and boost test scores….. No Child Left Behind needs to be scrapped and a new, brighter education policy needs implemented.” Tim has also said: “With skyrocketing gas prices, lay-offs and unemployment on the rise, housing foreclosures increasing, job outsourcing, longer hours and less pay, and a disastrous war plunging the US economy further into debt, it is time we stand up to reverse this downward economic spiral and return to a prosperous economy. We can no longer afford to stand idly by and allow these issues to plummet out of control.”
Please help Tim Legarsky stand up for Pennsylvania and America. The current policies have not worked and America and Pennsylvania need a new direction.
