     Are you part of a civic club, a church group or a school class needing a program for an upcoming meeting? Dennis A. Benfield has worked in public relations for 36 years and has given hundreds and hundreds of programs to a variety of groups all over western North Carolina.

      Primarily, his interests and expertise are in the history of the first century of America, including the military history of the War of Northern Agression, as well as contemporary politics. A part-time political science instructor today, he's also taught a college class on "The American Civil War: A Southern Perspective." He's also a teacher of writing and editing and self-improvement subjects, and he current serves as a Caldwell Soil & Water Conservation District supervisor.
