Family First is a non-partisan, conservative organization. We endorse targeted candidates who meet a high bar on social & fiscal issues, regardless of party affiliation. However, we want our supporters to be aware of a recent controversy.
On Nov. 6, 2008, incoming Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine called a press conference (listen below). DeWine talked about the future of the Republican Party and commented that the GOP had a "distracting fixation on social issues" which was causing the party to lose voters. He also suggested the GOP "exchange" a fiscal conservative message for the social conservative message.
Family First would like to see the GOP stand stronger on BOTH social & fiscal issues. They should not exchange one for the other. In addition, we'd like to see the Democrats change their platform to promote protection of life, marriage, school choice, and fiscal restraint.
Listen to Kevin DeWine's comments from his press conference below and judge for yourself if they were out of line. Then if you are a Republican, communicate your views on this to your county and state Republican party. You can find party contact info at: www.OhioGOP.org
