| The Judson Bennett Campaign Platform
Addressing the issues-What do I stand for? When elected, what will I do that is different? What is the bottom line? I have 7 basic campaign issues that I believe are necessary and justified.
PLATFORM:
1) Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance- This law (designed specifically for Sussex County) will require that adequate infrastructure be installed concurrently with all future development. This includes roads, schools, parks, police, fire, hospitals, and so on. This puts the financial burden where it should be on those who profit by developing land and not on the taxpayers.
2) Enforcement- Sussex County needs an improved enforcement division that will make sure the county laws are obeyed, especially in regard to development issues.
3) Performance Bonds- All developers will be required to buy a performance bond (an insurance policy) that guarantees the county government, those purchasing properties, and future home owner’s associations, that all the designated plans for any approved development will be followed and completed.This is only done in part now in regard to basic infrastructure, but things like Plantings, Club Houses, Swimming Pools, etc are not always included. This policy will set the highest standards for Sussex County’s future growth and will protect its citizens.
4) Environmental Protection- The establishment of improved Sussex County ordinances that will protect our drinking water and our inland bays based on the most recent scientific evidence.
5) Revision of the County’s legal department-Sussex County needs to hire its own in house, salaried attorneys who will work exclusively for Sussex County and not for developers. This will be a more frugal, efficient and expeditious system that will remove all appearances of improprieties.
6) Comprehensive Rezoning of Sussex County- This issue will be the most difficult to achieve, but is the most important. Right now, the county laws not only allow the entire county to be built out, but are designed to do so. If the laws are not changed, Sussex County will eventually be paved over with poor infrastructure, millions of people, high taxes, and reduced property values.
7) Strong economic development with non-invasive industry-creating good paying jobs.
