January 22, 2008

Dear Friends,

Last time out in the 2004 election, with 17,500 people voting, I lost by 3 votes against an 8 year incumbent. This time I plan on winning and when I am elected, I will make a difference. I am a Republican, but my campaign is for all the people, regardless of political party.

My platform which embraces six (6) basic issues, is designed to make absolutely sure that the inevitable growth that Sussex County will continue to experience is managed and controlled. Everyone in the great State of Delaware should understand the importance of what I am trying to accomplish, regardless of whether you live here or not. This county is a jewel with beautiful beaches, rustic farms, low taxes, and great people who appreciate our special sense of place. Sussex County is a viable part of what makes Delaware wonderful. Unfortunately, the direction we are heading will lead to an over-developed nightmare with millions of people, horrendous traffic congestion, environmental disaster, reduced property values, and unaffordable real estate taxes. Nobody wants that, which is why it is important that I win this election.

This will be a highly contested and contentious election. Certain special interests will oppose me fervently. With this knowledge, it is imperative that I raise as much money as possible to get my message out there. Radio, TV, Direct Mail, Campaign Signs, etc. require the expenditure of a lot of capital. It will be imperative to utilize these venues to provide the necessary frequency for our message to be heard. IF YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR FUTURE in Lewes, Milton, Ellendale, Rehoboth, Millsboro, Georgetown, Bethany Beach, Greenwood, Seaford, Laurel, and all of Sussex County and how our part of the big picture in the State of Delaware is so important, then you need to join me in this sacrifice. I will be investing a lot of my own money, my time, my heart, and my soul in this enterprise, but I cannot do it alone. I need your help as well. I have been e-mailing many of you for quite a few years about many things. This message is the most important one yet.

I'm starting my campaign funding, so I can hit the ground running in May. I 'm asking each and everyone of you to send me a check now made out to "Friends to Elect Judson Bennett", and mail it to   P. O. Box 615, Lewes, DE 19958. You can send anything legally from $1 to $600 per individual for this office. Whatever you are comfortable with will be greatly appreciated. This is a joint enterprise for all of us. Please join the cause to protect our quality of life.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and your friendship.

Yours truly,
Judson Bennett-Candidate for Sussex County Council

In front of an enthusiastic crowd of close to 100 people, Judson Bennett kicked off his campaign with a rousing speech in the Zwaanendael park in Lewes. The press along with many elected officials and candidates were there, as well.

Hitting on 6 major points-Adequate Public Facilities Ordinances, Increased Enforcement, Change in the County's Legal Department, Increased Environmental Protection, Performance Bonds for Developers, and Rezoning of Sussex County were emphasised by Bennett.

" We have allowed the Fox into the Hen House and we have become the Fox", said Bennett. The time has come to shoot the fox and get back to laying eggs", he exclaimed, as the audience applauded vigorously.

June 12, 2008- Democrat Joan Deaver enters the race:

Having consistently maintained a solid managed growth platform for the past 6 years, Republican Judson Bennett, is running a campaign for all the people. “ I’m making a sincere effort to keep my campaign- non-partisan, says Bennett. “I’ve formed a wonderful coalition of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. Unfortunately, Joan Deaver has allowed herself to be influenced by partisan politics and apparently holds some personal grudges against me according to information I’ve received from a mutual friend,” explained Bennett. A former supporter of Bennett, Deaver has vowed not to support him, even if she loses the primary to incumbent Lynn Rogers. The situation remains fluid with many rumors flying around Sussex County. It is also rumored PGA activist and land-owner, Wayne Baker may also file as a Democrat. “Regardless, of who my opponent is, I intend to win this election, and work to improve and maintain our quality of life through my platform and land use decisions,” says Bennett.

Recently, the Cape Gazette just completed a Poll on their Website for Sussex County Council.  The choices were Judson Bennett, Joan Deaver, and Lynn Rogers. I was pleased to see that with 237 people voting for whom they wanted to win this seat, the results were well in my favor. This poll does have some legitimacy, because the e-mails are monitored, and unlike other internet polls , you can only vote once. The results were JUDSON BENNETT-47%, Joan Deaver-16%, and Lynn Rogers-37%. My own polling indicates similar results, as well. I am optimistic and hopeful for a significant victory in November.

October 24, 2003-Lewes Councilman A. Judson Bennett Announces his Candidacy for the 3rd District Seat for Sussex County Council in the 2004 Election! In front of a large crowd in the 1812 Park in historic Lewes, DE where the British bombarded that city during the war of 1812, Lewes Councilman Judson Bennett stated that Lewes and all of Eastern Sussex were under attack again, not by the British this time, but by the poor land use management propagated by the current Sussex County Council. "Regardless of the benefits of growth, the balance is shifting; the quality of life is beginning to slip away! Gridlock on our roads, overpopulation, pollution of our magnificent environment will eventually ruin the very reason we all choose to live here", said Bennett. " There has got to be a better way! If you are happy with the way things are-with the way your land use has been managed, then vote for the other guy, but if you want something different, someone who is independent, someone who will do the right thing, someone who will protect your quality of life, then I'm your man!"

November 19,2003-Sussex County Council Candidate Judson Bennett addressed the Sussex County Republican Women's Club at Sussex Pines Country Club in Georgetown. In front of a packed house, at the annual Eastern Sussex Republican Women's Club meeting, 3rd District Sussex County Council Candidate-Lewes Councilman Judson Bennett, blasted opponent Lynn Rogers, Dale Dukes, and Finley Jones-calling them "the axis of irresponsibility, inconsistency, and inefficiency"-referring to their handling of land use in Eastern Sussex. "The Sussex County Land Use Plan was created by these 3 guys and it is terribly flawed," said Bennett. "It is designed to pave over Eastern Sussex County without consideration for providing the necessary infrastructure! Soon you will have nothing but massive development, constant gridlock, and lots of Lynn Roger's signs, exclaimed Bennett, as the audience  applauded vigorously. "It's time for a change," said Bennett. "It's time to elect someone who will protect your quality of life, and I'm the man for the job! If you want someone who is independent, someone who will do the right thing no matter what, then vote for me on election day, November 2nd, 2004."
