RUN RON RUN!

Why do we say RUN RON RUN!

If we are to capitalize on the success of the Ron Paul Revolution it is imperative to look at the options as they exist now.

And the only logical option is for Ron Paul to run outside the Republican Party, so that he is on the ballot in all 50 states plus DC.

He can be on the ballot everywhere by accepting the nomination(s) of one or more third parties and by running as an independent in those states where it is easier to qualify him as an independent.

Some say “sure, both major parties are corrupt and our society is way in the red, but we can move the Ron Paul supporters into the Republican Party and we can reform it”.

In fact, it is ILLOGICAL to suggest this…it makes no sense to try to take supporters into the Republican Party, to somehow reform it.

Why?  First, you don’t reform Al Capone.  You throw the bastard in jail.

The Republican Party is dominated by hacks, flacks and sheer criminals.  They won’t welcome any intrusion into their very profitable game.

And to say you are going to reform it implies that at some time in the past the Republican Party had merit. The Republican Party NEVER has stood for anything remotely like what Ron Paul espouses, what we advocate, which is a society which respects the rights of the individual.

Republicans (with rare exceptions like Ron Paul) have become indistinguishable from their Democrat colleagues.  Indeed, the last few Republican administrations, two terms of Reagan and a combined three Bush terms, have spent more than any other presidents in history…far more.

The list of Republican Party misdeeds is too long for this blog post, but aside from spending there is the total assault Republicans have waged on The Bill of Rights over the last few decades.

Republican appointed judges have eviscerated our 4th and 5th amendment protections, so that now we live in a police state.  They have done so because their commitment is not to a respect for individual rights but rather to building a state apparatus which they control.

And, the current presumptive nominee, John McCain, promises more of the same, more spending, more police leeway to violate our rights and an expansion of the imperialistic foreign policy which is fervently defended by a majority of Republican voters.

It wasn’t libertarians who were booing Ron Paul during those debates…those voices were Republican voices.  It wasn’t the libertarians who tried to bump Ron Paul out of his congressional seat in years past…those were Republicans, and they would have succeeded if libertarians weren’t there to support Ron Paul through each of his re-election bids.

Now, Republicans are at it again.  They are running an active campaign to throw Ron Paul out of congress.

What everyone who supports liberty must ask is what good is re-electing Ron Paul to a seat where Republicans will not allow him to accomplish a damn thing?

We don’t oppose Ron Paul’s re-election to congress.  Indeed, we support it.  However, logic dictates that we ask ourselves how much effort we should put into that task.  The answer, simply, is not a whole lot.  We gain nothing from his re-election to congress unless presidential candidate Ron Paul also is on the ballot in all 50 states plus DC.

The sad truth is that in all his terms in office, Ron Paul has accomplished NOTHING more than to sound the alarm.  The Republicans don’t care and don’t want to hear that alarm. They are tired of him trying to make them hear it and they again are trying to silence him.

Those who suggest that we can go into the Republican Party and build a successful revolution have to get realistic.

First, you can’t build an honest movement without being honest in your recruitment attempts.  Good people only will join if they believe you are honest.

You will have to defend the Republican Party record.  That record cannot be defended…not by any freedom loving, sane American.

So, as you go about the business of recruiting like-minded supporters, asking them to join you in the Republican Party, you will have to first say something like: “now, I know the Republican Party never has stood for individual liberty, and I know it is responsible for spending our blood and treasure wildly and without regard to either solvency or morality, but one day it can be a good party, so join with me…”

Where is that conversation going to go?

How much effort should be expended to keep Ron Paul in congress vs. how much can we gain by his running for president outside the Republican Party?

In fact, Ron Paul likely can run for re-election to his seat in congress AND be on the ballot in all 50 states plus DC (it might come down to a substitute ticket in Texas or, more likely, a court battle to beat that state’s very questionable sore loser law).

In each term of office, Ron Paul has failed to achieve any reduction in the leviathan state.  It’s grown more monstrous on his watch and it will continue to grow if we continue to say we must join with it in order to beat it.

The Republican Party is useless.  No more so than the Democratic Party is useless, of course.  But is saying that Republicans are no worse than Democrats a reason to be a Republican?

RUN RON RUN!

We have been there for you and we need you to be there for us.
