These are some comments on my beliefs about the issues that affect the citizens of the 18th District and the State of Wisconsin.
Business: Small business is the backbone of America and as a state we must do everything possible to make Wisconsin a business friendly state. If we want to retain and attract new business and industry to Wisconsin, we must reduce their tax burdens and remove unnecessary regulations.
Taxes: Our citizens should be allowed to keep more of the money that they earn. Balancing budgets by increasing taxes is simply irresponsible and unnecessary. One major thing that must be done, is to evaluate every program that the State of Wisconsin funds and to make some tough decisions towards their future. We cannot continue to be one of the highest taxed states if we want to attract and retain jobs here in Wisconsin. Simply spending tax money because it has been done in the past is unacceptable.
Free Market: I believe that government should keep their hands out of business, instead should offer tools to make business prosper. The free market will manage the business climate here in Wisconsin. Business choices should be made by entrepreneurs not legislators.
Public Service: Being involved in City Government has shown me the importance of making sure our Firefighters and Law Enforcement officers are fully funded. Providing these professionals with the best equipment, tools and training is very important to the safety of all communities across the state.
Pro Life: I believe in the pro-life position and believe that life begins at conception.
Energy: I believe that we need to rely less upon non renewable resources and look toward the future. Embracing solar and wind energy should be our focus in the years to come. Providing incentives to companies that build and operate “Green” must be proposed.
Healthcare: We must find a way to make available affordable healthcare for everyone. I do not believe in “Universal Healthcare” it has been proven many times over that it does not work. We need to increase our reimbursement from Medicare from the federal government. I have been told by insurers that we are not getting our fair share, thus increasing health care cost for providers.
Gun and hunting rights: As a gun owner and hunter, I fully support citizen’s rights to keep and bear arms. As long as I am your State Senator, I will always support our 2nd amendment rights. Hunting and fishing are a very important industry here in Wisconsin, we need to promote and preserve our resources for the future generations.
