Robin Vos has been a resident of Racine County for 40 years. Born and raised in Burlington, Robin and his family have long ties to western Racine County. Robin’s great grandparents came to Racine County in the 1850s as dairy farmers. Relatives still farm the family homestead.
Robin owns and operates a variety of businesses, including RoJos Popcorn Company in Burlington. Since buying the business in 1996, Robin has successfully grown his business from a small 3-person, family-operated business to an operation that now employs 19 people. The business continues to grow as Robin focuses on aggressive sales and marketing efforts along with a consumer-driven management style.
As a State Representative for the 63rd Assembly District, Robin employs the same customer service strategies he uses in business. Currently serving his second term, Robin remains committed to his number one priority – serving the constituents of western Racine County. Whether citizens require assistance in navigating a government agency, have an idea to make government more efficient, or simply want to express an opinion, Robin is always available to listen. In fact, most constituents receive a personal phone call. Before being elected to the State Assembly in 2004, Robin served on the Racine County Board for 10 years. During his tenure on the board, Robin played a key role in shaping the county budget by serving as a member of the Finance Committee. While serving on the county board, property tax increases were dept to a minimum and any increases were consistently below the state average. As a newly appointed member to the Legislature’s powerful Joint Finance Committee, Robin still remains focused on safeguarding taxpayers crafting the state budget.
Robin received his degree from UW – Whitewater in 1991 with a double major in Political Science and Public Relations. During college, Robin developed a passion for public service. He was involved in various charities and became active in student government. He was appointed by Governor Tommy Thompson as the student representative on the UW Board of Regents. Robin was the first student appointed from UW-Whitewater and after receiving unanimous confirmation in the Wisconsin State Senate, proudly served as the representative for the 160,000 students in the University System.
After graduating, Robin accepted his first job as a research assistant for former State Representative Jim Ladwig. He continued to work for Bonnie Ladwig when she succeeded Jim in the State Assembly.
Robin continued to serve the residents of Racine County when he accepted a job with Congressman Mark Neumann when he was elected in 1994. Robin served as his district director and supervised his Wisconsin offices. Robin also served as Mark’s eyes and ears in the district and was instrumental in establishing an aggressive series of listening sessions during Mark’s first year in office.
Robin strives to make life better for the residents of Racine County. He is a member of many civic organizations, including Rotary and the Knights of Columbus. He is also involved in many area chambers of commerce and the Racine County Republican Party
