Congressman Roy Blunt has served in  the United States House of Representatives since 1997; and as Chief Deputy Whip, Majority Whip or Republican Whip in the Leadership until November of 2008.  He served on the Republican Conference Steering Committee that elected Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen as Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and has served with Ileana in the Foreign Affairs Committee since 1997.  In 1999, he gave up his committees in Agriculture and Transportation in order to serve on the prestigious Energy and Commerce Committee.  He is known for his legislation to win the war against methamphetamines; for his bipartisan plan to enhance our nation’s charitable giving; and the plan to shine the light on the way the federal government spends your tax dollars with a searchable database of federal grants and contracts.  On January 24, 2009 the news across the Ozark Mountains, from Springfield and Joplin, Missouri to the US Capitol, was the announcement that Roy Blunt might run for the US Senate in 2010.
