Why am I running?



Statement of Why Tea Party Republican Don Peterson is Running For the United States House of Representatives in North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District

My name is Don Peterson.  I am  51 years old, married, and the father of two beautiful girls who are still in school.  I have worked all of my life and was never handed anything on a silver platter.  I am a Christian, a Deacon in my church, and I try my best to live out my Christian values everyday.  I am a simple man and enjoy living my simple life.  I’m also a Tea Party Republican that knows Washington is broken.
I depend upon God for everything, and that’s why I am running for Congress.  I have prayed on this and feel that this is the path that God wants me to take.  I have seen over the past few years that this country’s citizens are losing the freedoms guaranteed to us under the Constitution of the United States.  God has put it in my heart that we all need to fight for the Federal Government to return to it’s original reason for being:  To protect the people and provide the infrastructure so that all citizens have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I truly believe that the United States is blessed by God and is the greatest country in the world.  I want to serve you by fighting on the front lines of the war being waged against our freedom and the American way of life. That is why I am running for Congress. 

President Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.” 

You might say I’m a Reagan Republican though
I have no political past and don’t know anyone in high places.  I am honest and will not vote on anything without reading and understanding it first.  I will prayerfully consider any decision I make as your Congressman.  I will never vote for any legislation that oversteps the Federal Government’s jurisdiction or that opposes the Constitution or that opposes the word of God.  That’s my promise to you if you elect me to be your Congressman in the United States House of Representatives.
