Gas Prices
America must break its dependence on foreign oil by bringing our best scientific minds together to develop energy alternatives that can be used as soon as possible.
Healthcare
There are too many Americans without adequate health insurance. The current system is too expensive, too exclusionary, and too risky. It's time to discuss a healthcare system that will cover as many Americans as possible.
Housing Crisis
The mortgage and credit crisis is causing property values to plummet in the 11th District and the rest of the state. To remedy this: lenders must be held accountable, homeowners need to have access to resources that will prevent foreclosures and keep them in their homes, which is best done by having access to good paying jobs.
Jobs
American workers and businesses must be able to compete on a level playing field. The focus should be on fair trade, not just free trade! Trade agreements need to be renegotiated, to stop the export of jobs from the 11th district and the rest of the country.
Iraq War
U.S. troops must redeploy from Iraq as soon as it is practical. The war is costing the nation hundreds of billions of dollars, and drawing precious defense resources away from real global threats and harming our economy.
Terrorism
It is imperative that the U.S. continues in fight against terrorism. However, we must use our all of resources wisely, both military and diplomatic, to prevail against terrorist threats.
Veterans
The American men and woman who serve in the armed forces are heroes. They should have access to the best psychiatric and medical treatment when they return home from the front lines.
The Budget
The Bush administration is shackling this nation and its future generations with a huge deficit due to the Iraq war. Redeploying from Iraq as quickly as prudent will save hundreds of billions of dollars for the U.S. economy.
Immigration
U.S. immigration laws must be enforced. The influx of illegal immigrants is a drain on resources.
Seniors
It is important that programs like Medicare and Social Security are protected. As Americans, we must do what we can to make sure our seniors live out their golden years comfortably.
The Environment
We must take responsibility and care for our natural resources. What we do today will have a direct impact on the lives of future generations.
Poverty
I would support laws to protect those most susceptible to poverty - children. I would support laws to make sure parents step up and support their children financially.
Term Limits
I support term limits. I am for a "citizen" Congress, not a Congress made up of career politicians.
