Students for Warren
Students for Warren supports Rebekah not only because of her progressive values and legislative experience, but also because of her devotion to student rights and willingness to represent the University of Michigan as equal and important part of the community.
An alum of the Residential College, Rebekah knows first-hand the quality education the University of Michigan has to offer and wants to help extend this same opportunity to the next generation. She is committed to strengthening Michigan's education system and working to make college more affordable and accessible to all.
In addition, Rebekah is dedicated to ensuring that current students have access to elected officials and the decision-making process. While in Lansing she has advocated for initiatives that would increase student participation, such as voting by mail, no-excuse absentee voting, and same-day voter registration.
- In her first term in office, Rebekah introduced legislation to repeal the “Rogers’ Law,” so that in this increasingly transient world, Michigan citizens and college students may maintain different addresses for voter registration and driver license purposes (House Bills 4447 and 4448).
- As a member of the Michigan House of Representatives’ Ethics and Elections Committee, Rebekah has worked to remove barriers to the ballot box, co-sponsoring legislation to allow citizens to vote absentee without stating a reason (House Bill 4134) and to memorialize Congress to reject the Real ID Act of 2005 (House Concurrent Resolution 25).
