Why Rebekah
Rebekah's progressive values and legislative experience as well as her devotion to student rights and her willingness to represent the University of Michigan as an equal and important part of the community make Rebekah the choice for students.
An alum of the RC at the University of Michigan, Rebekah knows first-hand the quality education that Ann Arbor offers and wants to help extend this same opportunity to the next generation.
- Recognizing that students and parents pay more for tuition when the state allocates fewer dollars to public universities and colleges, Rebekah has worked to increase investment in higher education, expand eligibility for Michigan Promise Grant Awards (Public Act 42 of 2007), and secure state funding for capital projects such as Washtenaw Community College's Technical and Industrial Building renovations (House Concurrent Resolution 27).
- At the same time she has offered immediate help to several families in the 53rd District by creating the Envision Michigan Fund, which offers two to three scholarships per year to high school seniors who plan to pursue higher education.
