JUNE 29, 2010 PRECINCT LETTER:
Independence Day Parade
This year, because July 4 falls on a Sunday, Wheaton’s Independence Day Parade kicks off at noon instead of 10:00 AM. Please join me in watching the parade and cheering the Republican candidates and elected officials, the Milton Township Republican Central Committee float, and the Republican sponsored Tunes of Glory entry as they go by. So far, Bill Brady, Dan Cronin, Grant Eckhoff, Mike Formento, Mike Fortner, Gwen Henry, Mark Kirk, J.R. McBride, Debra Olson, Peter Roskam, and Darlene Ruscitti have registered to walk in the parade. Also, we should be very proud that our own Ruth Carlson will serve as one of the parade’s two Grand Marshalls and that a Carlson Paint, Glass, and Art Stores float will again be in the parade. This is the first year for the Wheaton Park District (WPD) to be responsible for the parade. I have had the honor of serving on the WPD committee that is putting on the parade.
November 2 General Election
We should all continue to be very proud that of Milton Township’s 109 precincts, our precinct, with 29%, had the 9th highest percentage Republican turnout -- 129 of the 440 registered voters in our precinct cast Republican ballots in the February 2 primary election. Gubernatorial candidate Kirk Dillard conceded on March 5. Bill Brady won that race by only 193 votes. To show how important your vote can be, if 194 more of our 440 registered voters had cast Republican ballots, and if all of them had voted for Dillard, Dillard, instead of Brady, would be our gubernatorial candidate. The following outstanding candidates will be on November 2 general election ballots in our precinct:
Please do not hesitate to contact me concerning any of the candidates. In my roles as your Republican Precinct Committeeman since 1999, as the GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000, as a member of the Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee 2003-2007, as the Chairman of TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois since 2005, and as a member of the 2008 Illinois Republican Party Platform and Resolutions Committee, I have come to know all of them, and many of them very well. Most of them have published campaign websites which contain information about their positions on the issues, their qualifications, their accomplishments, their endorsements, etc. – their website addresses are posted on the Candidates page at www.DiersenForMilton9.com. Please consider helping one or more of them win the November 2 general election. For example, please consider displaying their yard sign. If you have any questions concerning voter registration or if you might possibly be interested in serving as an election judge, please phone the DuPage County Election Commission at 630-407-5600.
MARCH 8, 2010 PRECINCT LETTER:

February 2, 2010 Primary Election
Needless-to-say, the February 2, 2010 Republican primary election will be very important -- it will determine which Republican candidates will appear on November 2, 2010 general election ballot in our precinct. The following is a listing of the offices that will be on the ballot, candidates for those offices, and website addresses for their campaigns:
Please visit their websites and consider the information there about their positions on the issues, their qualifications, their accomplishments, their endorsements, etc. For each of the offices, please consider helping one of the candidates win the primary election. At this point, many of the candidates need help circulating their nominating petitions. Many of the candidates have asked me to help circulate their nominating petitions – I have nominating petitions for all of the candidates -- if you are interested in signing any or all of them, please contact me as soon as possible. In my roles as your Republican Precinct Committeeman since 1999, as the GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000, and as the Chairman of TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois since 2005, I have come to know many of the candidates very well. Needless-to-say, I will support all the candidates who win the primary election and I will urge those candidates who do not win to support the winner. Please do not hesitate to contact me concerning the candidates. If you have any questions concerning voter registration or serving as an election judge, please phone the DuPage County Election Commission at 630-407-5600. Again, I urge you to consider the Republican candidates, consider helping one of them win the primary election for each of the offices, cast a Republican ballot in February 2, 2010 primary election, and vote for the Republican candidates in the November 2, 2010 general election. Hopefully, for the primary election, our precinct will again have one of the highest percentage turnouts for the Republican candidates in Milton Township.
Milton Township Republican Oktoberfest to include a straw poll for statewide offices
One more reason to attend the Milton Township Republican Central Committee's (MTRCC) Oktoberfest fundraiser at the Abbington Banquet Hall in Glen Ellyn on Friday evening, October 30, is to have the opportunity to cast your vote in a straw poll for the statewide candidates. All the statewide candidates in contested races are invited to participate in the straw poll. For U.S. Senate: John Arrington, Patrick Hughes, Mark Kirk, Tom Kuna, Don Lowery, Andy Martin, Kathleen Thomas, Ed Varga, Eric Wallace, and Robert Zadek. For Governor: Adam Andrzejewski, Bill Brady, Kirk Dillard, Frank Edwards, Andy McKenna, Dan Proft, and Bob Schillerstrom. For Lieutenant Governor: Brad Cole, Dennis Cook, Deb Leticia Gordils, Matt Murphy, Jason Plummer, Don Tracy, and Randy White. For Comptroller: Jim Dodge, William Kelly, and Judy Baar Topinka. The candidates will soon receive an invitation letter from MTRCC Chairman Mike Formento. Please visit the Files page at www.miltonrepublicans.org for a form to use to order tickets for the event, to take out an ad in the 2009-2010 MTRCC Directory, and to donate items for the silent and live auctions. For more information on the event, please contact Formento at 630-546-1780 or Mikeformento@sbcglobal.net. I had the honor of arranging and promoting the U.S. Senate straw poll that MTRCC conducted at its 2003 Oktoberfest. Six of the seven U.S. Senate candidates attended and spoke at the event - John Borling, Chirinjeev Kathuria, Andy McKenna, Jim Oberweis, Jack Ryan, and Jonathan Wright. Senator Chris Lauzen spoke for Senator Steve Rauschenberger who could not attend. Over 600 Republicans attended and 411 voted in the straw poll. Members of Wheaton College Republicans tallied the votes. Jack Ryan received 98 votes, Rauschenberger 85, McKenna 80, Oberweis 67, Kathuria 39, Wright 23, and Borling 19. The Daily Herald published an article in its October 11, 2003 edition titled "Republicans take center stage with Senate poll in DuPage." MTRCC's used its $26,000 net profit from the event to promote Republican turnout in Milton Township in both the 2004 primary and 2004 general elections.
Wheaton City Council to vote on prohibiting video gambling today, Monday, at 7:00 PM Outstandingly, Wheaton's City Council is scheduled to vote on prohibiting video gambling today, Monday, at 7:00 PM. In his September 22 article, Daily Herald Wheaton reporter Robert Sanchez stated: "The odds are good Wheaton will ban video gambling. City council members are expected to vote Oct. 5 on a local law prohibiting the video gambling machines that Illinois legalized to help raise money for capital improvements." Outstandingly, at its August 12 meeting, the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) voted unanimously to approve a 467-word resolution that I had the honor of drafting that calls for Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, and other Milton Township municipalities to immediately pass ordinances that prohibit video gambling. A copy of the resolution is posted on the Files page at http://www.miltonrepublicans.org. GOPUSA ILLINOIS calls on the other eight Republican township parties in DuPage County -- Addison (Pat Durante), Bloomingdale (John Dabrowski), Downers Grove (Brian Krajewski), Lisle (Mike Prueter), Naperville (Rachel Ossyra), Wayne (Ken Spitz), Winfield (John Smith), and York (Paul Hinds) -- to pass resolutions at their next meetings that call for the municipalities in their jurisdictions to immediately pass ordinances that prohibit video gambling. Outstandingly, at Wheaton's City Council August 17 meeting, MTRCC Chairman Mike Formento presented a copy of MTRCC's resolution to Wheaton Mayor Mike Gresk and called for Wheaton to immediately pass an ordinance that prohibits video gambling within the city's jurisdiction. Kathy Gilroy, Mark Kmiecik, and myself also spoke in favor of the resolution. No one spoke in opposition.
GOPUSA ILLINOIS
As the GOPUSA Illinois Editor, I spend many hours every day of the week developing and sending out an email each morning that provides Illinois Republicans with information about Illinois Republican candidates, elected officials, party leaders, platform issues, and events. Since January 1, 2005, those emails have brought over 52,000 articles to the attention of Illinois Republicans and information on many upcoming events. Please visit www.gopillinois.com and consider signing up to receive the emails. They are free of charge and they contain no advertising, pictures, or graphics. Last year, I had the honor of serving on the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) convention committee that developed the IRP platform. The ultimate purpose of my efforts as your Republican Precinct Committeeman, as the GOPUSA Illinois Editor, and as the TAPROOT Chairman is to help elect Republican candidates who can and will defend and advance the IRP platform. To subscribe, just send an email to diersen@aol.com with the word “subscribe” in the subject line.

One more reason for Republicans to move to Precinct 9 in Wheaton -- all the Republicans on the November 4, 2008 ballot who ran for congressional, state, or county offices were elected
It makes a lot of sense for people to want to live in precincts, municipalities, townships, and counties where their neighbors share their political beliefs. In addition to prosperity, safety, great schools, etc., one more reason for Republicans to move to Precinct 9 in Wheaton is that all the Republicans on the November 4 ballot who ran for congressional, state, or county offices were elected. Republican Peter Roskam won and he represents the precinct and Illinois District 6 in Congress. Republican Randy Hultgren won and he represents the precinct and District 48 in the Illinois Senate. Republican Mike Fortner won and he represents the precinct and District 95 in the Illinois House. Republicans Grant Eckhoff and Debra Olson represent the precinct District 4 on the DuPage County Board. Republican State's Attorney Joe Birkett, County Recorder Fred Bucholz, County Auditor Bob Grogan, Judge Blanche Fawell, Clerk of the Court Chris Kachiroubas, Judge John Kinsella, and County Coroner Pete Siekmann won and they work for the precinct and all of DuPage County.
NOVEMBER 28, 2008 PRECINCT LETTER
(SEE PDF FILE FOR NUMBER OF VOTES EACH CANDIDATE RECEIVED)
Dear Neighbor:
For general elections, one of my duties as your Republican Precinct Committeeman is to urge everyone who is eligible to register to vote and to vote for all the Republican candidates on the ballot. 458 are registered to vote in our Milton Township Precinct 9. 370, or 81%, voted in the November 4 general election. Republicans should be proud that all the Republican candidates on the ballot received more votes than their opponents. Milton Township has 109 precincts. Our precinct was one of the 42 in which McCain-Palin received more votes than Obama-Biden and one of 103 in which Peter Roskam received more votes than Jill Morgenthaler. In terms of percent of registered voters who voted for Roskam, our precinct ranked 31st with 241 or 52.6% voting for Roskam. Of DuPage County's nine townships, Milton Township, with 37.3%, was first in terms of percent of registered voters who voted for McCain-Palin. With 28,558 votes, Milton Township was second in terms of total votes for McCain-Palin.
Many thanks to those who displayed yard signs for the Republican candidates and did other things to help elect them.
Please do not hesitate contact me with any concerns or questions concerning the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC), the DuPage County Republican Central Committee, the Illinois Republican Party, GOPUSA, or TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois.
During MTRCC's December 10 meeting, I and other MTRCC members will vote to slate candidates for Milton Township positions -- Supervisor, Assessor, Highway Commissioner, Clerk, and four Trustee positions. All of the candidates are highly qualified and I know all of them very well. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Republican Activities
Since my last letter, my duties as your Republican Precinct Committeeman, as the Chairman of TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois, and as the GOPUSA Illinois Editor continue to keep me busy. On July 3, I walked with Mike Fortner in the outstanding Warrenville Independence Day Parade. I have served as the GOPUSA Illinois Editor since 2000. In that time consuming role, each and every morning, I send a free email to over 800 Republican elected officials, party leaders, candidates, and activists across the state. These emails bring to their attention news and commentary articles of interest to Illinois Republicans that have been posted on the internet during the previous 24 hours as well as information on upcoming events. Since the beginning of 2005, these emails have included hyperlinks to over 32,300 internet postings and information on many upcoming events. In addition to www.gopillinois.com, I post copies of the emails on www.illinoisreview.com and on the Illinoize page at http://thecapitolfaxblog.com/. Please consider subscribing. Just email me at Diersen@aol.com with “subscribe” in the subject line.

Recall Petition Drive
The DuPage County Republican Party has launched a petition drive to place an advisory referendum question on November 4 ballots in DuPage County. The question would ask if Illinois should provide for recall of our Constitutional office holders. The extended deadline for submitting completed petitions is rapidly approaching. I would greatly appreciate it if you would become a petition signer or volunteer to circulate petitions. Please let me know as soon as possible at 630-653-0462.
