| Two more years!
July 1 marks the 2nd anniversary of my becoming a member of the Leesburg Town Council. I am very proud of the initiatives this Council has taken -- to keep spending under control, giving residents a TAX CUT, instead of increases; streamlining regulations; reforming the way the town handles applicants and new business; restoring our tree canopy and ensuring new roads and trails are built expeditiously.
High on my agenda for the next two years of my term will be: 1. Getting transportation dollars for projects that are now stalled due to the lack of state funding. This includes paving Sycolin Road to Ashburn, completing Battlefield Parkway from Edwards Ferry Road to Ft. Evans Road and Route 15 to Evergreen Mill Road, and building the Sycolin Road flyover. 2. Continuing to streamline regulations, particularly the Board of Architectural Review. 3. Cutting spending and residential taxes. 4. Addressing utility rates, particularly exorbitant fees charged to restaurants and other businesses to connect to our system. 5. Ensuring the new water park opens at Ida Lee on time and under budget. 6. Ensuring bike trails and sidewalks are being built to help citizens, and flood-control projects. 7. Enabling annexation to go through and limiting residential growth near our Airport. 8. Curtailing turnover and improving morale on the Leesburg Police and promoting the Citizens Support Team.
There's a lot more, I am sure. If you have ideas, call me at (703) 779-8777 or email me at Councilmanreid@FDAINFO.com |
