Dear Friends:
On May 4, I won re-election to my second term on the Leesburg Town Council, and I am overjoyed.
I was the top vote-getter in 6 out of 11 precincts in Town. In 2006, I was only the top vote getter in one precinct.
I won with just shy of 1,800 votes and defeated the fourth-place finisher, who was backed by the Loudoun County Democratic Committee, by more than 450 votes, about five percentage points.
I ran without the endorsement of any political party or organization or without family wealth and influence. I put together an excellent grass roots organization and we easily knocked on 2,000 doors and made that many phone calls.

I will continue working hard to help people and achieve specific results -- to improve our transportation network, build recreational trails and parks, focus spending where it is needed -- like police protection -- and cut fat, waste and red tape in government.
Thanks to so many volunteers and donors to my campaign.
Thanks for the privilege of serving a second term on the Town Council and God bless you all.
KEN REID
