Does our Congressman Represent Us?
Many of the Delegates to the 2004 Democratic National Convention were struck by this odd fact: Most of us opposed the Iraq War and wanted us out. But our candidate didn’t.
Most local Democrats have a similar problem. Our party platforms call for restoring the rights we’ve lost under the PATRIOT Act, getting out of the “Free Trade” agreements that are destroying our country, and Clean, Fair Elections. But our elected leaders don’t seem to share our views.
My name’s Paul Richmond. I believe when you see something wrong, you’ve got an obligation to speak up, and I’ve spent most of my life fighting injustice. I’ve helped defeat a major pork barrel project at the ballot. I’ve helped end a pilot program that had the National Guard accompanying police in drug raids. I’ve helped stop the University of Washington Police from carrying M-16s. I’ve brought real and positive change to the communities I’ve lived in. Now I’m running for office so we can take back our country.

A Congressman and the War on Terror
The War on Terror is Hurting our Country. While we’re going after invisible enemies, we’re creating more enemies. And we’re using resources that could be better used for things like health care, education, and jobs rebuilding our country’s infrastructure. And while its happening, we’re losing our rights.
In Washington’s 6th District Congressman Norm Dicks has taken a strong stand on terrorism. He’s joined many in voting for bad laws like the PATRIOT Act. Dicks has recently co-sponsored the Homegrown Terrorism Act. The problem is, Dicks voted for much of the initial funding provided to Bin Laden as well as others he’s calling terrorists.
Dicks is opposed in the Democratic Primary by Paul Richmond. Richmond is a student of history, and understands when we intervene in foreign countries, we often create more enemies. He also knows these wars can have disastrous effects on our liberties.
