Growing old elegantly has been challenging; it has been complicated at best and strenuous at worst.
At my age, my body parts are approaching the 100,000-mile mark. The only problem is, unlike many Toyota Camrys running around town, my parts are not replaceable. Maybe that is why I favor old Volvos instead — their original parts seem to last longer. Right now, that’s all I’ve got: the original parts.

I am learning ... fast.
It's a case of continuous on-the-job-training. Adapt or perish.
The latest occurrence took place when I picked her up from a sleepover, after her school's first dance of the year.
During the ride home, I asked a question.
"IDK," she responded.

Soccer Dad
It was a conscious decision.
There were reasons: some philosophical, others more personal.
My son, Alasdair, and I wanted to make a contribution, enhancing everyone's experience.
On a personal level, I missed that irreplaceable time that, in retrospect, came and went by much too fast.

New home creates intolerable pressures for immigrants
