WHAT IS A LIBERTARIAN? HOW DO I KNOW IF I SHOULD VOTE LIBERTARIAN?
Libertarians SUPPORT:
> Preservation of 2nd Amendment Rights
> Elimination of programs that have nothing to do with government’s essential functions - farm subsidies, public funding of the Arts, taxes used for construction of sports stadiums, etc.
> Privatization of (increased competition in) Public services
> School Competition & Choice by parents
> Protection of personal, medical, & Internet privacy
> Tax cuts
> Elimination of corporate welfare & business subsidies
> Preservation of women's rights to control of their bodies, biological resources & exposure to risk
> Protection of voluntary, end-of-life choices
> Medical Marijuana decriminalization
> Reversal of the Supreme Court's Kelo decision, the preservation of Prop 13, and protection of homeowner rights
> Same-sex marriage rights
> Borders & Ports that are secured against terrorist weapons and attacks
> Free flow of foreign labor, but NO subsidies to foreign visitors
Many voters are not sure if their views are "libertarian." But they DO know they aren't satisfied with their party, Democratic or Republican. If you support most of the positions shown above, then welcome to the Libertarian Party - the Party of Principle: Individual responsibility & limited government.
You may be a “registered Democrat,” but support greater educational reform - and you want more government efficiency.
Or you may be a “registered Republican,” but do not object to gay marriage – and you may support terminally-ill patients’ rights to make end-of-life choices, or are concerned about Internet and privacy intrusions by the federal government.
Many voters ARE libertarians – and should be voting for Libertarian Party candidates - but they don’t realize it because they have never heard about the party and its positions.
As the list above shows, the Libertarian Party takes the best from Democratic and Republican parties and combines them into a consistent and principled platform supporting individual freedom and limited government.
Visit the Libertarian Party website at www.lp.org and look over the ‘Issues & Positions’ section.
You might also want to take the “world’s smallest political quiz” at http://www.self-gov.org/quiz.html. It gives you a very good measure of where you stand on economic and social issues.
Many voters discover they are Libertarians. It’s time to start voting that way.
I look forward to serving you, restoring your freedoms, and making California's economy #1 in the world.
