Unless you are one of the brave men and women fighting for our freedom in the war on terror or their families or a first responder to an event like 911 or Katrina, I ask what have you done for your country lately?
John Kennedy said, " my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country."
What you can do for your country is vote, especially in the primaries.
If you truly want change in government, it has to come through a revolution, not a violent revolution to throw out the constitution but a peaceful revolution to throw out the men and women who have perverted the constitution.
Every day I talk to people who complain about the way our country is being managed and listen as they voice discontent and disgust towards their elected officials. I, in turn, ask whom they'll be voting for in 2008. The most common response I hear is, "I don't vote..my vote doesn't matter."
It is this lack of action by the majority of the electorate that allows others to control our choices and control what goes on in Washington. Consequently, the current political atmosphere and the status quo thrives because of our inactivity.
Change will only begin when we, the people, start taking an active part in the selective and elective processes.
As an independent-minded republican, many of my beliefs will be similar to that of the party platform, yet others will not. My independence will allow me to judge every issue on its merits, rather than which party initiated it.
In three short weeks, I will begin the process of collecting the signatures necessary to get on the April primary ballot. You can begin to take back our government by joining the Madden '08 team today.
Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask, Act! Action will delineate and define you.
